Effects of Leadership Style on Organizational Performance in Some Selected Small Scale Enterprises in Rivers State

This study examined the effects of leadership style on organizational performance in small scale enterprises in Rivers State. Quasi-experimental design was adopted for study. The population of study consisted of 282 business owners drawn from 12 small scale enterprises. Stratified random sampling was used in selecting the sample size of 68 respondents. Structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. Mean with standard deviation was to answer the two research questions and z-test was to test the null hypotheses at .05 level of significant with 66 degree of freedom. Based on the analysis, it was concluded that there was a high leadership effects on the performance of business owners and employees in small scale enterprises in Rivers State. Based on the conclusion, it was recommended among others, that small scale enterprises should adapt transactional leadership style but strategize to transit transformational leadership style as their businesses develop, grow and mature.
